There wasn't a correct answer, but yes, you have the right idea. Pick which one you like better and imagine they're being interviewed. See how your character reacts to the following questions: "What do you like to do for fun?" "What is your job? Tell me about it." "What are your goals in life?"

well it was kinda hard actually at some point, like i got some idea of how whould they react but it was kinda hard

Hmm, I see. It could be you need to develop your automation skills. @Rusty How do you teach people new to roleplaying to act out a character for the first time? I'm sure I can spitball some advice I make up, but I'm guessing there's a pre-existing refined process for this (edited)

well Im good at roleplaying actually because I ofter eh like do some dnd but
1:35 PM
Its hard when it goes far than just any character with stereotypical story

I just now remember the advice is to "know" your character for this. For instance, if you know your character really well, you will not only know their response, but what they would choose to share. With your tulpa, it's the same idea only you're learning with them. A person with no opinions would say "idk" to a bunch of stuff, but the important thing is to pay attention to what your tulpa has done in the past. I'm assuming automation is more of an unconscious process, but you can train it using a character you're familiar with. Try doing some research on your character, look up questions on who they are and such. The questions will be similar to what I posted, but if you need more ideas feel free to ask. Dang this feels like guide material at this point

That entirely depends on how much experience the person has in writing first

@kaybee - jump i could try to help you some other tome if you would like but things like that work much better in private if you feel comfortable with it

@Deleted User - jump I guess she doesn't know what she likes yet, and you don't know either

Well im writer so i have like 3 years of expirience in writing complex stories and had no problem with well making characters talk natural mostly

Ah, I'm seeing that automation may not actually be your problem What feelings come up when you try to simulate a character?
5:09 PM
Or was it that you know your OCs better than random characters 😂
Avatar
Deleted User 7/19/2023 5:13 PM
well feelings depends on what i actually try to simulate like its a bit complicated.

well uh i kinda done some meditation and can describe some more about that one vocalization problem. Like she actually tries to say something more but after few words it just getting quiet and distorted like fading away at some reason, i hope well it explains smt and will help to give right advice (edited)

I should have asked directly- how do you usually feel when trying to communicate with Ilinel?
6:01 PM
I'm wondering if anxiety about her responses is shutting her down in the moment
Avatar
Just let her finish what she's saying
6:11 PM
It takes brain effort to talk, let her use brain power
Avatar
Deleted User 7/19/2023 6:26 PM
Well it just feels okay, i mean like i firstly ask and then give her time to say smt and then just trying to listen to her as carefull as possible (edited)

i know it's unwise to compare your own progression to others, but i am just a bit curious about this; when did you notice your tulpa gaining sentience? what were the first signs? (edited)
oh i wasn't talking about me, this is my first time hearing about all of this
Avatar
aapeli 🟣🥫🥔 ae 7/19/2023 6:33 PM
if you're focusing a lot she has a harder time saying things, you could try to not focus a lot on it and let it come out to see if it helps (edited)
6:34 PM
i just kind of let my thoughts run free and blurt out whatever came in my mind
6:35 PM
i wouldnt say theres a need to focus hard on it

Any *wrong way to start
6:58 PM
All you have to do is pay attention to your tulpa in some way
Avatar
aapeli 🟣🥫🥔 ae 7/19/2023 6:59 PM
and not think its you answering yourself if it comes out of nowhere and remotely sounds like what your tulpa would respond with
Avatar
Yes--intentionally categorizing thoughts that come up as "this is my tulpa" is what helped me the most initially
6:59 PM
Even if it "feels" like you, just saying "this is my tulpa's thought" helps a lot

I disagree there's nothing to it, I think the advice to help with vocality and framing your expectations can be helpful. However, vocality does seem as difficult as switching sometimes, oh wait... Otherwise, I agree. Tulpamancy is literally the practice of convincing yourself there's another person in your head. But it works!
Luminesce: No you dummy, you weren't supposed to agree with my hypothetical singlet self hearing "Just convince yourself your tulpa is real and then it is" and thinking that there's nothing to the experience (edited)
7:12 PM
The point was it'd be natural to doubt such a claim, I was explaining what about belief actually makes it work though

Deleted User 7/19/2023 7:20 PM
well ,when im not focused on what she says it kinda lost between other random thoughts and its really hard to get what she really said
Avatar
aapeli 🟣🥫🥔 ae 7/19/2023 7:30 PM
yeah maybe it's better to have some sort of focus on it then, as long as it doesnt push all thoughts away
7:30 PM
if you want less constant thoughts in general, meditation might help
7:31 PM
sit straight and focus on some single thing, and whenever you notice a thought, you let it go without judgment
7:31 PM
and focus back on the thing
Avatar
Deleted User 7/19/2023 7:32 PM
alright thanks, will do more meditation then
Avatar
aapeli 🟣🥫🥔 ae 7/19/2023 7:33 PM
thoughts popping up is a part of it and its not something bad and doesnt ruin it
7:34 PM
you'll start getting a more quiet mind when you keep doing it consistently for several weeks/months
7:34 PM
even just for 10-15min a day
7:35 PM
5min is a good starting length, you'll start noticing its not as boring and you dont feel as distracted anymore as you do it more and more
Avatar
Deleted User 7/19/2023 7:35 PM
Thanks will try to do that then!
Avatar
aapeli 🟣🥫🥔 ae 7/19/2023 7:36 PM
you also start noticing thoughts a lot easier and it might help with communication
7:36 PM
you can work on talking to your tulpa too ofc at the same time (edited)

Believable
Avatar
i actually did it a few times here in public
8:22 PM
it's just hard when other people are taking part in conversation as well, it gets too distracting
Avatar
Honestly I'm surprised you haven't run into someone who believes the brain's consciousness should "go with them" when switched out yet
8:23 PM
That's the most trouble I have when teaching switching

Like "How come my brain didn't come with me into inside itself, while leaving a copy of itself for my tulpa to use?"

so just to be clear izzy did all of it, all i did was just poke in the right direction because she already knew how to do it

not at all, i was reassured that i was actually doing a fair bit better in my processes than i feared, and when i was told to get out of the way it felt as automatic as they told me to do

well so far 100% people i tried to help manage to have a breakthrough experience

kaybee
if anything i've been lucky :3c
Luminesce: Naah lol, I don't think quick tulpamancy success is about luck (edited)
Avatar
it's less about being quick, and moreso realizing i've been having some healthy habits for a lot longer than i initially realized
Avatar
Or maybe it is unlucky to go into tulpamancy with severely mismatched expectations
Avatar
as i mentioend here a few times, logic and words is not something that helps people
8:27 PM
it's experiential practice
Avatar
Luminesce: But it bothers me when people think for even a moment that this One Simple Trick will multiply their entire brain by 2, and that humanity has just been blissfully unaware of this brainpower multiplying technique (edited)
Avatar
intellectualising it and trying to put it in neat boxes is good for people who are experienced... but for people who are beginners, it is distracting and can block them
8:28 PM
it is not one simple trick
8:28 PM
i'm not sure why you are being so defensive about...
Avatar
that too, i've read lots of guides and they all conflated the experience to something that was a bit more cerebral than i've had, like as you mentioned before i was gonna have the experience of moving aside and having my headmate come to the front with a neat little copy of the brain
Avatar
Luminesce: I'm just talking about the people who "fail to learn switching" because they're expecting to double their brain's conscious experience (edited)
Avatar
ohhh right!
8:29 PM
i thought you meant something else
8:29 PM
at one point i might show you conversation that i had with someone when i helped someone reach the breakthrough experience - with their consent of course
Avatar
Like we would have trained professionals with 10 headmates performing complex computations with their 10 systemmates all thinking at once
8:29 PM
And would've thousands of years ago
Avatar
if i could put it into an analogy, people are expecting there to be two cars, but really all that happens is someone else gets in the drivers seat

If that were a thing

@kaybee - jump that's a great analogy!

you can't turn harder or go faster than you could before, but the experience of being in the passenger's seat is still something different to driving it yourself
